On the heels of the tragic automobile accident on Searintgown Road, that took the lives of four Herricks High students as they were leaving the school to go to lunch, several parents at the last Herricks School Board meeting wanted to know if the there was a possibility that the board would now close the campus and therefore not allow students to leave for lunch. With a large margin of 4, 442 votes the New Hyde Park area supported 9th District Legislator Richard Nicolello with an overall win of 10, 431.
