Lorraine Pryhuber, 69, of Manhasset will take on Town of North Hempstead Councilman Angelo Ferrara in a primary election to choose the Republican candidate for North Hempstead Town Supervisor. The winner will face incumbent Democrat May Newburger in the general election in November. FULL STORY

The Merillon boys majors all star team traveled to Mansfield University, in Mansfield, PA to compete in the East Coast Summer Classic baseball tournament. It was a step up in competition for Merillon, as the games were played using "professional" baseball rules. Merillon went 1 and 4 in the three-day August tournament, and gained valuable experience by playing travel teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New York that have played this style of baseball together for several years. The players and coaches also had a tremendous experience while staying in the dorms on the Mansfield University campus.
