Funday Monday came to a close last Monday with Stan and Edie featuring "Tangerine Music" that at one point brought Joe May up the microphone and he crooned "After the Loving" which was very, very good.

The extremely popular event run by Commissioner of the Department of Community Services Anne Croce and her capable staff is held every Monday from the beginning of July to the end of August. Funday features among other things a variety of entertainment each week. Seniors are asked to bring their lunch and then for a nominal fee they can purchase a drink and a snack.

Many of the seniors head immediately to the tables under the covered patio and play cards or other games with their friends; many just come to socialize and others come to dance so there is something for everyone.

Free bus transportation is provided by the two and there is no parking fee charged for private cares. The program begins with an exercise program from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. made possible by the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizens Affairs and on various Mondays the Nassau County Seniormobile is on site plus there is a mobile Post Office at the disposal of the seniors so that they may purchase stamps without traveling to a post office and standing on line.

There is always a great deal of sorrow at the end of the program and this year was no exception. Seniors look forward to the summer and Funday Monday. However, Commissioner Croce always makes it possible for the group to have a February "reunion" when the weather is always the coldest and that event is always packed as well and it is held at Leonard's of Great Neck with a great deal of generosity provided by Frank Castanga of the Americana at Manhasset.
