Greenpoint Dodgers

The GreenPoint Savings Bank Dodgers won a very exciting game. All the Dodgers are doing a terrific job hitting. Super hits by Steven Ambrosio, Christopher Rocco, Mike Glaser, Joey Citriniti and Jarod Root. Steven Curran hit a three-run homerun. Christopher Rivera, Dan Chiofolo, and Anthony Pesiri had excellent plays on the field. Super job by Robert Dimonte as catcher. Special thanks to Daniel Calagieri and Troy Driscoll who played for the short handed opposing team and had key run scoring hits. Great efforts by both teams!

Game 1

Dodgers 4 - Giants 5

July 8, Manor Oaks - 6 p.m.

The Giants opened the summer season by eking out a win over the Dodgers 5-4. Both teams played excellent defense. Daniel Luchino who batted 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Denes Kostel who batted 2 for 2 with 1 RBI, Nicholas Calandra who batted 2 for 3 with an RBI and Niketas Janios who batted 1 for 3 with an RBI. Louis Simione, Joey Murphy, Joey Richards, Brandon Silva, Ryan Herbst and James McCleary provided solid defense to keep the game close. Great game by both teams. Go Giants!

Game 2

Giants 8 - Braves 3

July 11, Manor Oaks - 6 p.m.

The Giants squared off against the Braves last night in a great little league game. Both teams made some spectacular plays in the field. Most notably was the play of Brandon Silva who was awarded the game ball. Brandon playing 2nd base, ranged well to his left spearing the ball and alertly ran over to second base for the put out. Great play Brandon.

Hitting stars for the Giants were Nicholas Calandra, who was 3 for 3 with a double and 1 run scored, and Joey Richards who had a breakout game going 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. James McCleary also had a breakout game going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Danny Luchino went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Nicholas Clifford was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Denes Kostel was 2 for 3 with a run scored and 1 RBI, Brandon Silva was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Ryan Herbst went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. While Niketas Janios did not collect any hits, he did put the ball in play moving the runners into scoring position and play super defense to keep the game close.

Great game Giants! Keep up the good work, and remember "no smiles, no pitches!" Go Giants!

Game 3

Padres 6 - Giants 11

July 16, Manor Oaks - 6 p.m.

The Giants just keep on rolling. In the 3rd game of the summer season the Giants squared off against the Padres and won. The Padres played a fantastic game and made some great defensive plays coupled with timely hitting, but the Giants prevailed in this one. For the Giants the hitting stars were: Nicholas Calandra who was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored, 4 RBIs, 1 double and 1 triple; Louis Simione who also was 4 for 4 with 1 run scored, 3 RBIs and 2 doubles. Nikitas Janios went 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Anthony Obidienzo went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Brandon Silva 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Paddy Theodoropoulos, back from vacation showed no rust from missing the first two games by going 2 for 4, with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Danny Luchino also went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. James McCleary and Joey Murphy flashed some leather for the Giants in the field. Special mention should be given to Nicholas Clifford, who was awarded the game ball for showing up sick to cheer his team on and help out coaching at third base. Thanks Nicky!
