At a recent school board meeting Herricks School Superintendent Dr. John Bierwirth presented an extensive overview of the International Baccalaureate Program, a world-class educational program, not just a series of courses. Dr. Bierwirth explained that the courses could offer significant advantages to the district.

New Hyde Park/Garden City Park Holds Trustee Installations
The New Hyde Park/Garden City Park School District held its installation of trustees last week on the grounds of the Manor Oaks School. It had been pouring rain on and off most of the day, but held off long enough for the outside installation ceremony which has become an annual event.

Free Golf Clinic
Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (S.T.A.R.S.), part of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, is holding a free golf fitness clinic on July 17, from 6 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Part of its monthly fitness series, the clinic will be held at S.T.A.R.S. in East Meadow, 801 Merrick Road.

Merillon Little League Baseball Scores
It is sad to see our softball season come to an end. Every single girl on the team played like a star tonight. Suzanne Kostel was on base 3 out of 4 times. She certainly has a good eye for pitches. Julie Hundertmark, Jaclyn Liebowitz and Natalie Katz, hit the ball very well. Excellent plays in the field were made by Katie Hundertmark, who played a terrific 3rd base all season and Christina Stone, playing 2nd base. Casey Dowdell and Jessica Laredo had done awesome jobs behind the plate all season.
