GreenPoint Dodgers vs. Athletics
The GreenPoint Savings Bank Dodgers had a terrific comeback in the sixth inning. RBI's by Max Nero, Joey D'Amico, Kevin Padilla, Anthony Pesiri, and John Anthony DiMaria. Great fielding by Stevie Curran, Steven Ambrosio and Christopher Rocco. Jared Root helped the team out with his terrific defensive plays in the pitcher's position. Great game! The Dodgers and the Athletics did a wonderful job playing in the heat!
June 4
NHP Stationery Athletics vs. Braves
After two weeks of rain-outs the Athletics came back for a fourth straight win in the bottom of the last inning with Nicholas Tornatore's fifth RBI of the game. Ace Goldstein powered two doubles and four RBIs. Solid hitting by a lead off batter Joe Carbone (5 for 5 with a double). Taylor Ward, Anthony Obidienzo, Patrick Tritto, and Kunal Singh all reached base each at-bat. Andrew Pugliese and Dominick Fazzolari both popped a couple of singles providing two RBIs each. Great first outing as catcher by Kunal Singh. These two teams played a great game right to the last batter.

NHP Stationery Athletics vs. Dodgers
Terrific infield play by the A's Anthony Obidienzo to Joe Carbone at third, and to Nicholas Tornatore at first couldn't keep the Dodgers down today. Andrew Pugliese at second made two great unassisted plays. Great job by Taylor Ward in his first game as catcher sharing the job with Kunal Singh. Anthony Obidienzo going 5 for 5 with five RBIs, Ace Goldstein with four RBIs, Andrew Pugliese and Dominick Fazzolari each with three RBIs, Kunal Singh and Joe Carbone both batted 5 for 5 with an RBI, and Domenico Fazzolari also contributed an RBI. A great close game to the end.

Cellini Lodge Braves vs. NHP Stationery Athletics
The Braves played their best game of the season against the Athletics. Leading the way for the Braves was Brendan Shea with timely hitting and superb defensive play. Nice hitting came from M. Simon, H. Morrow, P. Morrow, V. Labruna, N. Niewierski, M. Spindel and R. Herbst. Defensive stability came from J. Stevens, B. Renta and M. Ryan. Everyone has shown tremendous improvement, and learned to play as a team. Coach Joe is happy to see how much fun everyone is having, and hopes the Braves keep up the great work. Let's go Braves!

Royal Waste Service Phillies
The season is winding down, but the Cardinals are just beginning to heat up. In yet another spectacular game by both teams, the Cardinals pulled out a victory. Leading the way for the Cardinals was David Luchino, who turned in two no assist double plays, pitched two superb innings striking out five players and then scored three runs and drove in one. Christopher Kelly also pitched two innings, struck out four players and then scored two runs and drove in three RBIs. John Fitzgerald and Matthew Miller each went 3 for 4, John had five RBIs with a triple and Matthew had two RBIs with two doubles. Sal Signorelli had a breakout game also going 2 for 3, scoring two runs and driving in three RBIs. Christian Theodoropoulos, Matthew Dillon, Matthew Magenheim, Johnny Mahon and Thomas Perniciaro also had solid performances.

This was a hard fought and well played game. Both teams exchanged leads. But the Rockies came out on top. The Rockies pitching was led by Joe Faller and Frank Pate. The offense was provided by Tom Verdino, Christopher Corona, and Nick Gugliotta.

The offense was led by Tommy Graziano (double, single, RBI), Zack Ricchiuti (HR, 3 RBIs), Brett Spielberg (single, 2 RBIs), Mike Marsigliano (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Jeffrey Sallusto (triple, single, 3 RBIs), Ryan McNulty (triple), Dominic Regalbuto (RBI). Great defense by Andrew Coster, Jon Paul DiMarco, and Robbie Ferlazzo. Outstanding pitching by Robbie, Michael, Ryan and Tommy. The Astros finished the season with an impressive 7-4 record. A special thanks to the coaches and parents for a great, fun season.

NHP Wireless Mariners
The Tigers pulled out an exciting victory over the Mariners. The Tigers scored five runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning to steal a 7-2 victory. Key defensive plays in the game came from pitcher Christopher Ambrosio, first baseman Zach Root, third baseman Tony Citriniti, outfielders Anthony Campisi and Christopher Sanchez. Key walks in the game came from Patrick Ambrosio, Peter Pecora, Christian Curran, Michael Guglielmi, James Heinrich, as well as an RBI/HBP with bases loaded by Maxwell Thomas. Good game Tigers and Mariners! On to the playoffs!

In a great game Mike Colavito and Jamie Brolly pitched a masterpiece. The defense was super and the Pirates completed a perfect season with 10 wins no losses a feat that was so tough with the teams being all balanced. As manager Jim Brolly said in his pep talk at the end of the game I am proud of all of you guys but our goal is still ahead we have three more to achieve the ultimate season.

The Angels survived a furious comeback rally by the Diamondbacks, and held on for an 8-8 tie. Lazio Pizza led 8-1 going into the last inning, thanks to some timely hitting throughout the line-up. Jonathan Defelice reached base three times with two singles and a walk. Sean Rogers and Chris DiCerbo each had two hits, while Stephen Kostel, Sean Carton and Dj Gerowski each chipped in with hits. Chris Dicerbo came on in relief for Lazio Pizza with the winning run on base. Dicerbo pitched out of the sixth and a perfect seventh inning to salvage the tie for Lazio Pizza. DJ Gerowski started and pitched four innings, allowing just one run on one hit and one walk. The tie game assured the Angels of third place and an automatic bid into the semi-finals.

The Red Sox came from behind to defeat the Diamondbacks 4-2 in the first round of Merillon Majors playoffs. The defense in the game was awesome by both teams. Robert Stanton, Brian Syriac and Tony Pevarraro (who came up from the min ors to help out the Red Sox) all contributed with nice fielding plays. The big play defensively came from Anthony Prisco who hauled in a long fly ball in right center while running at full gallop to stop a Diamondback rally. Anthony's play lit the spark that the Red Sox needed to start a come from behind rally. Christopher Pucci and Steve Cialone both ripped singles, Tom Brennan then crushed a long double to knock in two runs. Nick Cusamano then smacked another hit for an insurance run. The pitching for the Red Sox was nothing less than spectacular with Eric Wendt and Steve Cialone pitching flawlessly.

Port Washington 3
The girls from Waste Management outhit Port Washington for their win in the last game of the year. This gave the team a 9-3 record and a second place finish in the standings. The stars of the game were Aileen McGonigle and Alex Vigliarolo who made their pitching debuts and did a great job. Nicole Daly -pitched great and grabbed a grounder and outran a runner for an out at home. Ann Marie McHale pitched a 1-2-3 last inning. Alex also made great plays on the mound, catching a fly and throwing a runner out at first. Dayna Obdienza threw a runner out at first from right field. Ann Marie McHale caught a grounder in centerfield and ran to second for a force play. Alex had three hits and three RBIs. Aileen had one hit and three walks. Nicole Daly had three singles and a triple and three RBIs. Ann Marie McHale had two doubles and two singles and three RBIs. Oliva Peros had four singles and two RBIs. Lauren Ernst had two doubles and two singles and three RBIs. Dayna had one single, three walks and an RBI. Victoria Caniano had two singles, a walk and two RBIs. Jenn McHale was a great help again coming up from the minors and walking two times and getting an RBI.

Baxter Sporting Goods
The Baxter Sporting Goods BBBs defeated Mineola 9-8 in tough back and forth contest. The BBBs struck first in the second inning to score four runs. A well executed double steal by Maureen Flynn and Nicole Palmer set up a two RBI double by Kelly Geus. Kim Miller followed with an RBI double and later an Emily McGillicuddy single to plate Kim completed the scoring for the inning. Mineola battled back to lead 7-4 in the fifth but then the BBBs struck back swiftly with a three run rally of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Baserunning was key as Meghan Morrisey walked and stole second, third and home, in a double steal with Maryann K arahalis. Both teams scored once in the sixth as Emily McGillicuddy used her legs to beat out an infield hit and steal two bases including home (assisted in another double steal by Caitlin Clark). Meghan held Mineola scoreless in the sixth to complete a gutsy complete game performance and give the BBBs, a chance to win in their last at bat. With two outs and nobody on, chances looked bleak but a two base error allowed Caitlin Miller a chance to be the game's hero. Caitlin promptly delivered with a solid single, driving in the winning run ending the game. Great job BBBs, this was another great game to watch!

The girls from ABC Rental beat NHP in a tough game. It was our great defense that won this game. Kerri Schaefer made a great backhand catch of a line drive. Julianne Schaefer made a great play on fielding a ball that was deflected off the pitcher's glove and a perfect throw to first. Stephanie Ligouri made a great catch in the outfield and smooth plays at second. Stefanie Weitzel caught a hard line drive at first. Jessica Schacor played great at short. Janine Maceroni stole three bases and tagged up on a fly for an important run. Stefanie Weitzel had a triple and two singles with three RBIs. Stephanie Ligouri continued her hot hitting with two singles and a walk, hitting line drives consistently. The pitching stars were Kaitlyn Kerrane and Stefanie Weitzel.

ABC Rental 8 - Glen Oaks 7
The girls from ABC Rental won the last game of the season in the last inning on an RBI single by Jennifer Sarro. The win gave the girls a 10-1 record. Stephanie Ligouri made the defensive plays of the game with three catches of high flies including one running into centerfield and backhanding a potential game winning home run. Kaitlyn Kerrane made four great plays at third and a running catch of a fly in left field. Julianne Schaefer pitched a great game and fielded her position at the mound perfectly. Vivian Quan made a great play at third. Kerri Ann Rudd made a great play at short. Jessica Shacor made great plays at short. Christine Deluca and Kerri Schaefer played great at catcher. Vivian Quan had three singles. Jessica Shacor had a single, double and three RBIs. Stephanie Ligouri had a double and was robbed in her other hits. Stephanie Weitzel had a double and two walks. Stephanie led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, stole second and third with great slides and scored the winning run on Jennifer Sarro's hit. Christine Deluca was 3 for 3, had an RBI and scored a run. Christina Lipinski had a single and an RBI. Kaitlyn Kerrane had a single and a home run. Stefanie Weitzel pitched the last three innings for the win.

ABC Rental 7 - Mineola 6
In another exciting come from behind win the girls from ABC Rental continue to amaze the coaches and parents with their exciting play. Christine Deluca was the star of the game hitting a single to knock in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. When we came up in the bottom of the seventh, we were down 6-4. Stefanie Ligouri and Kaitlyn Kerrane led off with two line drive singles and Karen Ernst knocked in the first run. Stefanie Weitzel knocked in the tying run with a double and Jessica Shacor followed with double putting runners on second and third. Then Christine Deluca got the game winning hit. Christine also played a great first base, scooping up throws on difficult one hops and a perfect throw home for a play at the plate. Kaitlyn Kerrane made two catches of high flies in the outfield. Stephanie Ligouri and Kerri Schaefer also made catches on high flies. Julianne Schaefer made a great play at second. Stefanie Weitzel pitched six great innings and made numerous plays at the mound. Kerri Ann Rudd came in the seventh to shut down the Mineola team and earned the win. Jessica Shacor played a perfect shortstop. On the three wins against the Mineola team, we won all the games in the last inning with different players being the stars of the game in each. This is a tribute to a great team.
