The New Hyde Park Village officials including Mayor Daniel Petruccio, Deputy Mayor Robert Lofaro and trustees Lawrence Montreuil and Richard Coppola have been spending time at the Long Island Rail Road area monitoring a new grade crossing machine that is being tested in New Hyde Park called the Alstrom. Just as the New Hyde Park Fun Run one mile run was about to start the heavens opened up and it poured rain for about five minutes. However, immediately after that it cleared and became a very sunny but very muggy day for the New Hyde Park Runners 24th Annual Run held at the Denton Avenue School. FULL STORY

The Waste Management Mets beat the NHP team in a rain-shortened game by the score of 6-0. The pitching stars were Ann Marie McHale and Nicole Daly. On the mound, Ann Marie knocked down a hard grounder and made a perfect throw to Nicole at first. Ann Marie also caught a grounder and outran a runner getting an out. Nicole caught a high fly on the mound. Lauren Ernst made an unassisted out at first and made a great throw from right field trying to nail runner at second. Jenn McHale had three walks and a RBI. Alex Vigliarolo had a single, walk, and a RBI. Aileen McGonigle had two walks, two runs scored and a great slide on a steal. Oliva Peros had a double, walk and two runs scored.
