Hota Rebels 3 - Mountain Lions 4
During the winter the Mountain Lions kept in shape by playing in a Brooklyn indoor league. The boys finished undefeated in 10 games and earning a chance to play the tough Hota Rebels for the championship. Due to scheduling problems, the game was not played until last weekend when the coaches agreed to play outdoors.
After Hota took an early lead, the Mountain Lions tied the game on a well-placed shot by Danny Naso. Makis Konstantatos gave NHP their second goal with a low shot into the corner off a free kick. But the first half ended with Hota up 3-2. Midway through the second half, Makis tied the game when he scored on a breakaway. The Mountain Lions won the game and championship when Danny Santarsieri put the ball past the keeper with a beautiful header. The strong midfield play of Michael Riccardi was important to the victory. During the second half, the strong defensive play of Eric Wendt helped shut down the Hota offense. After the game, both teams celebrated a successful winter season.
