CDM Tire Expos 2

The Expos fell victim to good pitching and fielding by their opponents. Matthew Morrissey and Matthew Loosen, who had one of the two Expo hits, pitched well for the Expos striking out a total of six D'Backs. Christopher Lodise got the other hit for the Expos. Good defense by Leo Varghese, Cory Williams, Derek Cheung, Matthew Psallidas, Jonathan Nizzo, Clement Yu and Sean McGonnigle. Fine base running by Warren Kelly, who had two stolen bases, and Sammy Wilbur and Matthew Williams with one stolen base each. A tough loss but a good effort.

CDM Tire Expos 9

Led by Warren Kelly's three hits and three stolen bases, and the excellent pitching of Matthew Morrissey and Matthew Loosen who combined to strike out 10. It was the second slugfest for the Expos who have scored 29 runs and given up only two runs in their last two games. Matthew Loosen, Matthew Morissey, Leo Varghese, Cory Williams, who once again laid down a perfect bunt single for an RBI, Derek Cheung, Christopher Lodise and Matthew Williams all contributed base hits. Sammy Wilbur stole two bases and scored on a fielder's choice. Good fielding by Jonathan Nizzo and Sean McGonigle. Another impressive win by the entire Expos team.

The NHP Stationery Athletics vs. Padres

Outstanding performances help lift the Athletics to a win today. Each team member contributed with RBIs led by Joe Carbone with 4 RBIs; Taylor Ward, Nicholas Tornatore, Andrew Pugliese and Kunal Singh each with 3 RBIs; Anthony Obedienzo and Dominick Fazzolari each with 2 RBIs. Anthony and Nicholas also powered shots to the outfield for extra bases. Coach Al Pugliese is especially proud when everybody contributes to a great game.

May 6

Cardinals vs. Rockies

The T.F. O'Brien Cardinals and the City Line Florist Rockies played with a final score of T.F. O'Brien Cardinals 6 and the City Line Florist Rockies 7. For the Cardinals David Luchino and Chris Kelly pitched brilliantly. John Fitzgerald went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a triple, while driving in 5 RBIs. David also went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Sal Signorelli, Matt Magenheim, Christian Theodoropoulos and Christopher Kelly contributed with 2 hits each. Tommy Perniciaro, Matthew Dillon, Matthew Miller and Michael Ali played a strong supporting cast.

May 9

The T.F. O'Brien Cardinals scored 19 on 24 hits over 5 innings; the game was called because of darkness. The Cardinals David Luchino pitched 2 innings allowing 2 base runners while striking out 4 and Christopher Kelly pitched a scoreless 4th inning while also striking out 2. On the offensive side, Christian Theodoropoulos led the team going 3 for 3, with 3 runs scored and 6 RBIs; he was followed by Thomas Perniciaro, Sal Signorelli, Johnny Mahon and Christopher Kelly who all had 3 hits and 2 RBIs each. Matthew Dillon, Matthew Miller, John Fitzgerald, Matthew Magenheim and David Luchino, went a combined 9 for 15 with 5 RBIs.

Boys Minors

The Delizia Tigers held off a sixth inning rally by the Caruso Reds to win the game 9-8. Solid pitching by Zach Root and Christopher Ambrosio as closer. Key hits in the game for the Tigers were triples by Anthony Campisi and Christian Curran, singles by Patrick Ambrosio and Peter Pecora. Zach Root and Tony Citriniti reached base two times each on key walks. The key play of the game was a sliding catch by Christian Curran in foul territory off third base and a game ending unassisted double play by Zach Root at first base. Good job by Christopher Sanchez behind the plate as well as an exciting tag out of a runner at home.

May 12

NHP Funeral Home Astros 6

Hair Debonnaire Orioles 3

Fine effort by the NHP Funeral Home Astros in a 6-3 win over the Orioles. The offense was led by Jeffrey Sallusto (2 hits, 3 RBIs), Eric Doreste (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Jared Moller (double, single, RBI), Robbie Ferlazzo (double, single, 2 RBIs), and Zack Ricchutti. Ryan McNulty added a walk and a play at home plate tagging out an Oriole attempt to steal home. Michael Marsigliano made great plays in the field. The Astros defense was anchored by Brett Spielberg, Jon Paul DiMarco, and Dominic Regalbuto. Outstanding pitching by Robbie Ferlazzo and Eric Doreste shut down the Orioles.

May 8

The Delizia Restaurant Tigers handed the NHP Wireless Mariners its first loss of the season by a score of 8-6. Solid pitching for the Delizia Tigers by Zach Root and Christopher Ambrosio. Leading with hits were Patrick Ambrosio, James Heinrich, and Christopher Ambrosio. Anthony Campisi had three walks and scored an important run and Tony Citriniti took a fastball off the left elbow. The Delizia Tigers were helped in the fourth inning by second baseman Peter Pecora and also a fine stop in left field by Maxwell Thomas. Good catching by Christian Curran and Chris Sanchez.

May 10

Pace Pharmacy Blue Jays 6

NHP Funeral 0

A total team effort by the Blue Jays who out-slugged the tough NHP Funeral Home Astros 6-0. Michael Pucci, Neil Bisciello and Jordan Fox combined to hurl a shutout. The Blue Jays had run saving plays by Anthony Zammit, Anthony Perrone, Mike Jandovitz and Tom Fasano. John Ganz had a big game behind the plate keeping the Astro runners in check. The Blue Jays were hot with big hits off the bats of Michael Pucci who led off the game. Jordan Fox, Neil Bisciello, Anthony Zammit, Gabe Gonzalas, Tom Cunningham and Jordan Buff also had a big day at the plate. But the big blow came off the bat of Anthony Perrone who hit a long home run to center field.

May 12

Caruso Barber Shop Reds vs. Tigers

Loss for the Caruso Barber Shop Reds to a tough Tigers team. After gaining a (6-0) lead on the hitting of Stephen (driving in two runs), Robert (hitting two doubles), Tony and Andrew each with timely hits. The Red had a couple of miscues on the field letting the Tigers tie the game and then take the lead. The Reds did not quit. Nice plays by Shane, Kyle, John, Chris, Dylan, and Alex behind the plate. The bottom of the sixth, the Reds' batters brought the game to one run but the Reds lost 9-8.

May 10

Caruso Barber Shop Reds vs. Orioles

The Caruso Barber Shop Reds beat the Orioles (9-3). Great pitching by John and Andrew. Dylan made an outstanding catch on a line drive and doubled the runner off first to end the rally. Two superb plays in the outfield by Frankie and Stephen taking away the extra base hits held the Oriole runners to singles. Nice hitting by Tony, Shane, Robert, Matt, Alex and Chris.

Royal Carting vs. Roslyn #2

Royal Carting Yankees played Roslyn #2 and Royal Carting won its 2nd game of the season 15 to 7. Excellent pitching by Robby Kassoff and Mike Mchale and fine defense led by Craig Losi at 1st base, Sal Heinrich at 2nd base. Hitting stars included: Robby Piccola (HR), Mike Morrisey (4 hits), Robby Kassoff (4 hits), Marty Kurasz, Mike Mchale (4 hits), and Christian Uy. Great team effort.

Girls Farms

Fleet Bank vs. New Hyde Park #1

The Fleet Bank Girls Softball team had another great team effort this week. Everyone had at least one base hit with Christina K and Nicole slugging out four hits each. Other contributors at the plate were Brianna, Emily and Shrada with three hits. Terrific base-running and fielding plays by Angelica, Melissa, Joanna, Christina L., Jessica C., Elizabeth and Deandra.

Waste Management Mets 8

Port Washington 0

Girls Waste Management shut out Port Washington team by great pitching and defense by Dayna Obdienza and Lauren Ernst. Dayna pitched for the first time and did well. In one inning she threw out 2 runners at first with Olivia Peros making the putouts and tagged a runner trying to score after scooping up a grounder. Lauren also fielded a grounder and ran home to get the force play and threw a runner out at first. Alex Vigliarolo played a smooth first base. The catching stars were Toni Ann Amico, Victoria Caniano, and Aileen McGonigle, helped by Elizabeth Renni and Jennifer McHale who moved up from the Farms.

May 5

Merillon #2 Stutzmann's Funeral Home

Vs. Mineola #2

The Merillon #2 girls seniors defeated a Mineola #2 team. Jennifer Fasian was starting pitcher for two perfect innings. Danielle Losonci pitched the remaining four innings.

Monica Solvre, Diana Amoroso, Diana Echvaccia and Jennifer Fasian led the offense attack. Alicia Demarco layed down a perfect bunt. Suzie Jozkowski, Jane Wipawsky, and Lauren Reiff were spectacular at fielding and Stephanie Tornatore, Jessica Resnick, and Natalie Zuchman played a strong outfield to solidify the fourth straight win.

May 12

Lourde Gregory's vs. NHP

The girls from Lourde Gregory's played their best game by defeating NHP 13-5. Maggie Morrissey reached base four times and was brilliant defensively. Julia Dialallevi contributed with two doubles and a single. Two hit efforts were also had by Kim Stein, Simone Morrow and Cristina Cannella. Excellent defense in the outfield by Tricia Philbin and Erin McGillicuddy kept us in the game.

May 12

F&F Roofing vs. Port Washington

F&F Roofing played a real tough game beating Port Washington 12-11. Jaclyn Liebowitz and Jessica Laredo were pitching stars. Jaclyn struck out nine batters, giving up three runs, and Jessica struck out five batters. Casey Dowdell is awesome behind the plate and gets on base every time. Suzanne Kostel, Natalie Katz, Hannah Edwards and Noareen Ahmad sure know how to look over the pitches and get on base. Christina Stone and Julia Hundertmark were also on base every time, and made some terrific plays in the field.

May 11

F& F Roofing vs. Mineola

F&F Roofing played Mineola winning by a score of 12-6. Jaclyn Liebowitz and Hannah Edwards were pitching stars, striking out 10 batters, collectively. Both girls also got on base every time at bat, with Jaclyn getting the first extra base hit of the season, a solid shot into right field for a double. Hitting stars included: Casey Dowdell, going 5 for 5, Christina Stone and Katie Hundertmark, both going 4 for 5, and Julie Hundertmark and Jessica Laredo going 3 for 5. Noareen Ahmad, Suzanne Kostel and Natalie Katz did well.
