He and his family summered for many years in Blue Point and Sayville. In 1970, he was elected president and CEO of Richmond Hill Savings Bank.
After Dolores died in 1972, he married Phyllis O'Connor in 1983 and with that union Bub became the stepfather to nine making him the father of 16. In 1988, he retired as chairman of the board of the bank and thereafter traveled the world.
Bub was active in many charitable, educational, civic, social and professional organizations throughout his adult life. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Anne's RC Church and long-time member of the Garden City Country Club, Nassau Country Club and Sayville Yacht Club. "Though he had a very successful career, perhaps his greatest success is that through his magnetic personality, his perpetual generosity and trademark sense of humor, he gained the love of many, the respect of his colleagues and the loyalty of his friends and family. This is Bub's legacy," said his daughter, Nancy Witter.
