Fifth/Sixth Grade Boys

Our first home game of the season was played this past Sunday. We were victorious over Farmingdale by a score of 7-1. Goals were scored by Tom D'Augustinis, Michael Howard, Justin O'Leary, Frankie Tloczkowski, Dean Grunert, Sean Rogers and Greg Papalexis. Some great passing by midfielders Keefe Castoria and David Fliegel set up some of these goals. Stevie Mastrandrea and Brendon Guerrier shared goalkeeping duties and also ran midfield. James Flaherty, James Von Der Linn, and Matt Siracusa who held Farmingdale to just one goal played great defense. This week's game ball belongs to Peter Dimaria for seven ground balls. The team displayed stick and checking skills that made the coaches and parents proud. Our next game is Sunday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. in New Hyde Park.

Third and Fourth Grades

The New Hyde Park Warriors played their first home game against Deer Park. Deer Park jumped out in front with a 4 to 1 lead in the first quarter. In the second, third and fourth quarters we out played the opposing team, but could not overcome the three goal lead. We lost the game 10-8. Our passing and finding the open man was our highlight of the game. We get better each game we play.

Ground ball award for the day goes to No. 8 Matthew Williams. Best effort goes to No. 2 David Eliassen for his full field play and steadfast defense. Most improved for the day is No. 5 Bobby Young for all around play.

Scoring - No. 3 John Robinson with three goals, No. 17 Matt Lynn with two goals, No. 7 Patrick Holahan with one goal and one assist, No. 9 Brent Williams with one goal and one assist, No. 10 James Guerrier with two assists, No. 23 Danny Catapano with one goal.

Our next game is away at Jericho, noon on May 6.
