At the last meeting of the New Hyde Park/Garden City Park School Board Superintendent Joseph Rudaitis announced that Dr. Frank Calamusa, principal of the Garden City Park School would retire as of June 30.

O'Connor Objects to: 'Government Behind Closed Doors'
In a volatile exchange between North Hempstead Town Councilmen Angelo Ferrara and James O'Connor and Supervisor May Newburger on a decision to bond $34,000,000 to pay a judgement against the town by Sumitomo Bank, Supervisor Newburger angrily called the board into executive session prompting O'Connor to respond, "This is government behind closed doors and I object."

New Hyde Park Wildcats Roundup
Congratulations to Ken Simon on his selection as New Hyde Park Wildcat volunteer of the year. If you're looking for Ken, you don't have to look too far. Go to any Wildcat soccer field and you can find Ken marking a field, serving as an assistant coach at a Lady Lions game or just watching a soccer game. Ken serves on the Town of North Hempstead Tournament Committee and was a key member of the committee that made the Wildcats first picnic a huge success. Ken was voted to the Wildcats board of directors this year and has been instrumental in getting the fields ready for this year's first games. Ken was presented an award at the LIJSL soccer convention this month.
