DEC Proposes Remediation for Fumex Sanitation Site
On March 7 at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Avenue Elementary School, 300 Jackson Avenue, Mineola the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will hold a public information meeting to discuss the proposed remedial action proposed for the Fumex Sanitation site located at 131 Herricks Road, Garden City Park.

A project called SAVE (Schools Against Violence in Education) has been introduced to all schools by the New York State Department of Education and has mandated that the laws must be adopted by all school districts by July 1, 2001.

This year the Merillon Little League is celebrating its 50th Anniversary on May 5, 2001, the date of the Annual Merillon Little Parade with festivities to be held at the Merillon Little League field after the parade.

New Hyde Park Wildcats Soccer Roundup
The boys assembled for their first indoor play of the winter season. At Franklin Square, they took 1st place honors going undefeated in exciting play. The finals pitted the boys against a well skilled Brentwood Squad - a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation brought us a shoot out - and a real nail-biter it was - all 7 field players were involved with Robert Morici winning it with a fine blast. Chris Sawicki was awarded the most valuable player award at the goalkeeping position. Congratulations to Sean Burkett, Danny Duras, Chris Dijanic, Robby Kassoff, Joseph Marrano, Michael McHale, Robert Morici and Chris Sawicki.
