Joseph Smolenski, Jr. Dedicates Meditation and Memorial Park
Huddled under a tent to shield the rain, at noon on Veterans Day, Joseph Smolenski, Jr., owner of the New Hyde Park Funeral Home on Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, held an impressive dedication service of his majestic waterfall Meditation and Memorial Park constructed in part of the parking lot to honor all the men and women who have served in the area. Included in the list were members of the Armed Services, New York City Police and Fire Departments, Nassau and Suffolk Police, Nassau and Suffolk Volunteer firefighters and New York State Troopers.

Town Holds Budget Hearing Prior to Final Budget Vote
The day after the election the North Hempstead Town Board held its final budget hearing on the budget prior to the vote on the budget held on Nov. 14. .

New Hyde Park Wildcats Soccer Roundup
Despite the rainy weather, the Sabercats were determined to extend their winning streak. The Sabercats came out strong with the forward line of Maiken, Kristin and Cristina pushing toward the goal. The defenders, midfielders and forwards were passing well and moving the ball to the outside. Alicia made some great saves along with Christina B., Courtney and Hillary. The four played terrific defense along with Cristina who joined the defensive line in the second half. Midfielder Nicole R. made a chip shot in the center of the goal area. Kristin tapped it over to Stefanie who pushed the ball into the net. The midfielders Alison, Danielle, Jessica gave excellent support to Erin, Roseann and Nicole D. Lauren once again took charge and shot the ball at the goal. Glen Cove's defender screened out their own goalie and Lauren made the score 2-0. The Sabercats dominated the second half with the help of the wind but despite many shots, the Sabercats did not score again but everyone played great soccer.
