Sunday was a "picture perfect" day for the Annual Williston Park Street Fair sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Willistons. Hillside Avenue was closed between Willis Avenue and Nassau Boulevard in Williston Park and the streets were packed with folks sampling the many food booths, buying wares from the merchants and the vendors, engaging in the games and, for the younger set, going on the many rides. There was indeed something for everyone.
Some of the highlights of the day included a wood karate chop and breaking the wood, demonstrated by Mayor Doreen Ehrbar at the Charles Hwang Karate exhibit; the massive crowds cramming Peter Andrews inside and outside store to take advantage of the sales; and best of all, the dunking of really "good sport" Bill Casey who was "dunked" in a water tank to benefit the Williston Park Recreation Committee more times than he wants to even remember. All-in-all it was a truly fun fair.
