We are writing in response to your letter dated Aug. 24, 2000 wherein you declined to meet with our civic group, Citizen's League for Environmental Action Now ("CLEAN").

We believe that you are confused as to the nature of our letter. This was not an invitation but rather an urgent request for assistance in resolving an environmental nightmare that threatens our suburban lifestyle. We renew this request and ask that you reconsider your decision and meet with us as soon as possible.
