NHP Boys U-11 1/2 Take Second Place

Our boys had a great tournament coming within one bonus point from taking first place. Tied with Middle Country with four wins and one tie (against each other), it came down to bonus points where Middle Country had the edge by one point. Had "goals against" been the tie breaker, our boys would have taken first place as we allowed only two goals all tournament while scoring 17, besting Middle Country in this category.

Game 1

NHP 5 - Brentwood Indians 1

Ross Goldstein started the scoring with two quick goals as he cut through the Brentwood defense with ease. Sean Carton blasted in two goals from the right wing assisted by Nick Cusumano and Nick Marano. Ross Goldstein finished the goal fest by blasting one in net in the second half. Desi Farrell and Christopher Jean-Bart kept up the pressure from the left wing along with help from Dan Ott. Defensively, our boys were superbly led by the rock solid play of Anthony Fini, Anthony Bonilla, Steve Montoni, and Matt Ott at keeper.

Game 2

NHP 6 - Brentwood Thunder 1

Our boys picked up where they left off in Game 1. Allan Thomas blasted in two goals and Ross Goldstein netted two more. Alfio Russatto boomed one in from the left wing, assisted by Brian Bravo. Anthony Sacino powered one in from right wing. Shots on goal were being made from every angle as the Brentwood defense was battered.

Game 3

NHP 0 - Middle Country 0

This was a gem of a game as two evenly matched teams turned it up a notch, putting in a great performance. A handball in the box gave Middle Country the opportunity to get on the board, but the penalty kick soared over the net. Our defense led by Anthony Fini, Anthony Bonilla, Brian Bravo and Steve Montoni shutdown a powerhouse Middle Country offense. With less than 10 seconds to play Christopher Jean Bart blasted a shot on goal that hit the cross bar and the game ended in a tie.

Game 4

NHP 1 - Brentwood Indians 0

Brentwood was looking for payback and stepped up their game giving our boys a run for their money. Brentwood's defense regrouped and held our boys a bay, until Anthony Sacino made a run from the right wing blasting in the winning goal.

Game 5

NHP 5 - Brentwood Thunder 0

Our boys got their second wind and easily handled the thunder in another goal fest. Desi Farrel and Christopher Jean Bart barraged the Brentwood net with attack after attack; from the left wing. From the right wing Nicky Cusumano boomed one in net as did Sean Carton which got us on the board. Ross Goldstein blasted in two more goals [seven for the entire tournament] from his center midfield position. Brian Bravo finished out the scoring with an impressive left footed blast from left wing. Terrific defense by Anthony Fini, Anthony Bonilla, Alfio Russatto with Steve Montoni and Nick Marano at keeper earned the shutout. Dan Ott, Alan Thomas and Anthony Sacino added further pressure onto a stressed Brentwood defense from the left, center and right. matt Ott played a great game at midfield fueling the offensive drives.
