Mineola 6

In the most exciting game the girls have ever played, they outscored Mineola 8-6 in the tenth inning. Both teams could have won the game in each of the extra innings but great defense prevailed. Jessica Schacor and Sally Palmer lead off the top of the tenth with singles and were knocked in by clutch RBI singles by Danielle Young and Kaitlyn Kerrane. Kerri Ann Rudd and Stefanie Weitzel pitched terrific. There were so many great defensive plays Stacy Denison, Sally Palmer, Stephanie Vitable, Stephanie Ligouri, and Stefanie Weitzel all caught flies in the outfield. In the bottom of the eighth, Karen Ernst threw out 2 runners trying to steal second and threw out a girl trying to steal third earlier. In the bottom of the ninth, Danielle Young caught a high fly in left and threw out a tagged up runner at home. To end the game in the bottom of the tenth, Kerri Ann Rudd caught a hard rising line drive at third. Other hitting stars were Stephanie Ligouri (2 singles), Christina Lipinski (single and robbed of a line drive hit in centerfield), Karen Ernst (2 doubles and a single). Kerri Ann Rudd (3 walks), Kaitlyn Kerrane (single, great bunt single and a walk) and Danielle Young (single and 2 walks).

Mineola

Stutzmann Funeral Home

In the second game of a doubleheader that was called by time restrictions, the girls from Mineola beat the girls from Stutzmann Funeral Home. Stacy Denison pitched 3 perfect innings only giving up 1 run. Jessica Schacor made great throws from her catcher's position. Christina Lipinski continued her hot hitting with 2 singles. Karen Trebing and Stephanie Vitable added a walk. Stephanie Ligouri and Jessice Schacor added a single. Karen Ernst, Danielle Young, Stefanie Weitzel and Sally Palmer had a walk and a single. Stacy Denison had two walks and a single.

Girls Majors

Mineola 14 - Kiwanis Club 8

Kiwanis Club was defeated by Mineola 14-8. It was a close game with the score tied until the last inning. The defense was sparkling with great plays by Jennifer Sarro, Alyssa Perciballi, and Leann Dunwell. The offense was led by Vivian Quan, Sami O'Keefe, and Tracy Rostholder.

NHP 21 - Kiwanis Club 20

The Kiwanis Club girls played their best game of the year by defeating the first place NHP team. Down by seven runs in their last at bat, they rallied for ten runs for the win. The hitting stars for the Kiwanis Club included Nicole Palmer (4 hits), Jessica Connaughton (5 hits), Teresa Ferraro (homerun and a triple), Vivian Quan (3 hits and 2 walks), and Brianna Traverson. It also took the combined pitching effort of Caitlin Clark (starter) and Jessica Connaughton (reliever) to help with the win. It was an exciting game with a great effort by both teams.

Girls Minors

Hillside Beverage vs. Glen Oaks

The Hillside Beverage team played a great game against Glen Oaks and won by the score of 7-0. Victoria Pisciotta led the way with three scoreless innings and two doubles. Christina Cannella, Nicole Kimkowksi, and Caitlin Petriccio stung the ball all day. Kelly Liotta, Jaqueline Triptree and Justine Lopez helped us complete the game and did a great job. Thanks for your help.

Hillside Beverage vs. Mineola

The Hillside Beverage team played a great game against Mineola and won by the score of 4-0. The hitting stars were Faith Shea, Caitlin Petruccio, and Lauren Scida. Maggie Morrisey and Victoria Pisciotta pitched three strong innings each and gave up no runs. Maryalyce Janowski and Brynne Dowdell had nice games in the field. Well played game by both teams.

T.F. O'Briewn & Co. Sluggers

The O'Brien Sluggers were on their game tonight, really hitting the ball hard and playing solid defense. All the girls were hitting the ball tonight. Our hitting stars were Julilanne Saraceno and Jessica Phillips, both going 4 for 4, with Jessica getting 3 RBIs. Kathleen Nicolello and Jennifer Fazzolari were both 2 for 2, with Jennifer getting 4 RBIs. Jennifer also contributed by pitching 2 solid innings, only giving up 2 runs and striking out 3 batters. Sara Pascucci has a great eye at the plate and drew 2 walks to get on base. Jaclyn Liebowitz and Jackie O'Connell were both 2 for 3 at the plate, and Julia Diolallevi was 3 for 4 with a walk and an RBI. Nicole Daly was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Carla Campagna got a key hit and 3 RBIs. and pitched great once again only giving up 1 run and striking out 4 batters. Erin McGillicuddy and Valerie Fiore also got solid hits. The girls show great team spirit and play real well together. Keep up the good work!

The O'Brien Sluggers played a great game today, but came up 1 run short for the win. We had superior hitting from Simone Morrow, going 2 for 3 with a triple and 4 RBIs, and Jennifer Fazzolari was 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Nicole Daly and Carla Campagna both had key hits, Carla getting a double and 3 RBIs, and Nicole had a big RBI when we needed it. Kathleen Nicolello is really hitting the ball hard, as is Valerie Fiore. Jessica Phillips contributed with a solid hit up the middle, 2 walks and solid defense. Julia Diolallevi, Julianne Saraceno and Jackie O'Connell all managed to get on base with walks, and Jaclyn Liebowitz hit the ball hard and played great defense in the field. Good effort girls!

The "come-back kids" also know as "the cardiac kids" did it once again! Going into the 6th inning we were down by a score of 5-2. In the 6th inning our bats came alive and we came back with 6 runs to win by a score of 8-5 against a very tough Glen Oaks team. Kathleen Nicolello and Sara Pascucci drew walks to get on base, Carla Campagna got a single and with the bases loaded, Nicole Daly got a single knocking in 2 runs. Then, Jessica Phillips and Julia Diolallevi got on base and were driven home with a big triple by Simone Morrow, ending the game on a high note. We had superb pitching today by Jaclyn Liebowitz, going 3 innings, only giving up 1 hit, 1 run, and striking out 5 batters. Carla Campagna pitched the last 3 innings, striking out 6 batters. Sara Pascucci hit the ball hard and got her first RBI of the season. Excellent come from behind victory once again girls!

Boys Minors

Lazio Pizza Tigers 9

Detailz of NYP 7

It started as a slugfest but turned into a classic pitching duel as Lazio Pizza Tigers held on to beat Detailz of NHP 9-7 in Merillon Boys Minors Baseball action. Both teams exploded offensively and Lazio Pizza had a 7 to 6 lead after two innings. Warren Kelly, Dan Graham, DJ Gerowski, Joe Baghai, Nick Rocco and Mike Rocco all had timely hits for Lazio Pizza. Nick Rocco started and pitched two innings. DJ Gerowski pitched the middle two innings and Joe Baghai shut the door on Detailz in the final two innings. Jeff Sallusto played tremendous defense at third base and Ed Daly had the key hit in the second inning to put Lazio Pizza on top for good. Game balls were given to Joe Baghai, Jeff Sallusto and Ed Daly!

Blue Jay 5 - Reds 10

The Caruso Haircutter Blue Jays came up just short to the Cellini Lodge Reds in this well played and exciting ball game. Power at the plate for the Blue Jays came off the bats of Paul Conte, Nick Lipinski, Gabe Gonzalas, Michael Marsigliano, Tim Heckman and Bobby Montoni. On the hill Anthony Zammit was strong. Michael Jandovitz put in a fine performance in his pitching debut. The pitching was backed up with nice fielding. Stellar defensive plays were turned in by Michael Pucci, Michael Santelesa and Paul Conte. Nice effort Jays keep up the good work!

Blue Jays 5 - Devil Rays 4

The Caruso Haircutter Blue Jay's picked up their 2nd victory of the season on this sweltering Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jay's had to come from behind to defeat the hard hitting Devel Ray's. Leading the way for the Jay's at the plate were Anthony Zammit who had an RBI. Gabe Gonzalas and Nick Lipinski also had RBI singles. Bobby Montoni had a big hit smacking a 2 run double with 2 outs. Michael Santelesa also had a timely hit. Neil Bisciello was sharp on the hill only giving up 2 runs. Nick Lipinski closed the game with 3 strong innings of this own. The pitching was backed up by some fine defense with stellar plays turned in by Michael Pucci, Michael Jandovitz, Michael Marsigliano, Paul Conte, Tim Heckman and Anthony Perrone. Well done boys!

Caruso Haircutter

Dr. Ornorato Dermatology

The Caruso Haircutter Blue Jays notched their 1st win of the season in an exciting game against the tough Dr. Ornarato Astros. This game could have gone either way. The game was tied 3-3 going into the last inning when the Blue Jays broke out. Peter Pecora started things off with a perfect bunt and later came around to score. Kenny Richards, Tim Heckman and Michael Pucci reached base which set the stage for Nicky Lipinski. Nick stepped up and crushed a long fly ball into right center for a grand slam home run. The Jays defense was awesome Kenny Richards almost made a diving grab in right field came up and fired a perfect strike to Michael Pucci at second to cut down the runner. Nick Lipinski and Michael Santelesa were flawless on the mound. Neil Bisciello had another strong game behind the plate, tagging out the potential go ahead run on an attempted steal of home. Anthony Zammit, Tim Heckman, Michael Jandovitz and Steve Philips were all solid on defense. This was a total team effort by the Blue Jays. I'd like to give a special thanks to Peter Pecora, Kenny Richards and Steve Philips for coming up from the farms to give the Jays a hand. Thanks boys!

NHP Stationary Red Sox 2

The Red Sox played a tough contest that was tight until the last inning, solid pitching from Chris Loizzo and Mike Colavito. Good infield play by Vishal Vaghela and Sal Heinrich. Andrew Richardson had 2 solid singles as did John Morana. Solid defense in the outfield by Vincent Lau, Derek Cheung and Matt Sallusto.

NHP Stationary Red Sox 2

A pitchers duel between the two teams, Sal Heinrich hurled five solid innings. The two lone runs for the Red Sox were gotten in the first inning by Chris Loizzo and Vishal Vaghela. They were driven in by a clutch single from Pedro Suarez. Solid infield play from Tom Ferraro. A solid effort was made by all of the Red Sox. This was the last regular game of the season. I want to thank Steve Heinrich, Mike Colavito, Jim Sallusto, Larry Loizzo and Greg Kontopoulos for all of their help. Great effort and let's win in the playoffs.

The Pace Pharmacy Braves defeated the H. Edwards Athletics on a sweltering afternoon at Merillon Field.

Michael Fishkin's pitching debut was awesome with 3 strikeouts, 0 runs, and 0 hits.

The day was filled with outstanding defensive plays by Stephen Contrada, Christina Theodoropoulos, Kenny Richards, Steven Phillips, and Nick Prevete.

Great slugging by Thomas Salvatico, Shane Murphy, Drew Carrick, Stephen Palazzolo, and Ryan Conerty.

Many thanks to all the players and parents for a very memorable season.

Monday, June 5

The Pace Pharmacy Braves defeated the D&E Roofing Giants.

Ryan Conerty's pitching debut was perfect with 3 strikeouts, 0 runs, and 0 hits. Terrific job at 2nd base by John Macri. It was an all around great day by the Braves.

Hair Debonnaire vs. ABC Rental

The Hair Debonnaire Cubs beat ABC Rental by the score of 9-6. It was a well played game by both teams. The Hair Debonnaire Cubs were led by Eric Doreste, Max Devane, Kyle Brennan and James Regan at the plate. Each had several hits. Erik Schmid laced a single to center in the 4th inning. Matthew Magenhelm and Gabe Miller had strong outings in the field. Chris Pisciotta pitched a perfect first inning.

Hair Debonnaire vs. Dellizia Restaurant

Game Summary: The Hair Debonnaire Cubs beat ABC Rental by the score of 8-3. It was a well-played game by both teams. The hair Debonnaire Cubs were led by Tommy Campbell, Mike Durante, Alex Theodores, and Gabe Miller at the plate. Eric Doreste pitched a scoreless first inning. Tommy Campbell and Alex Theodores had great games behind the plate. Great game Cubs.

Medon Silverman Dodgers vs.

D&E Roofing Giants

The Medon Silverman Dodgers defeated the D&E Roofing Giants on a beautiful June evening. John Fitzgerald made his pitching debut and threw a scoreless first inning. Joseph Thomas was the hitting star collecting 3 hits. Tony Gitriniti, Chris Ambrosio, Tom Verdino and Patrick Nicolello all contributed multiple hit games. Way to go Dodgers!

Medon Silverman Dodgers 5

ABC Rental Marlins 2

The Medon Silverman Dodgers won a hard-fought game against the ABC Rental Marlins by a score of 5-2. The Dodgers defense was strong, anchored by Christian Curran, Stephen DePietto, Matt Gevs and Thomas Roulis. Robert Scatorchio, Matt Miller, Tom Verdino and Patrick Nicolello all scored runs to lead the offense. Great game Dodgers!

Melon Silverman Dodgers - 6

Virgillo Chiropractor Indians - 5

In an exciting and hard-played baseball game, the Medon Silverman Dodgers edged past the Virgillo Chiropractic Indians 6-5.

Robert Scatorchio scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as well as collecting three hits. Tony Citaniti, Thomas Roulis, Christina Curran, and Christopher Ambrosio contributed with 3 hits each. John Fitzgerald, Matt Gevs, Matt Miller, Thomas Verdino, Joseph Thomas, and Patrick Nicolello all had two key hits apiece. The key play of the game came in the top of the sixth when Christian Cuna made a great grab of a hard line drive which ended the Indian rally. Compliments to both teams on a well-played game.
