Merillon Little League News
The Merillon Knights of Columbus Maroon Mooners came from behind to tie NHP #1 12-12 in a hard-fought battle. New Hyde Park jumped out to an early 7-2 lead after two innings, but key hits in the third from Tara Marsigliano, Meghan Morrisey, Elyse Petruccio, Jamie Terran, Kelly Geus and Emily McGillicuddy sparked a four-run rally and closed the score to 7-6. New Hyde Park bounced back and increased their lead to 12-8 entering the bottom of the sixth. The score could have been worse if not for the alert play of Roseann Malizia who caught a tipped ball that caromed into the outfield from the third baseman's glove, preventing further damage to the Mooners' cause. Ann Marie Rudd, Kim Miller, and Jenna Caputo opened the Mooners' final at bat by getting on base, and big hits by Vanessa Yu and Roseann placed four Mooners before the third out was made. Congratulations to both teams for a real barn burner!
