For parents longing for an appropriately ambitious and germane activity for their children to grow into need look no further than the Town of North Homestead's Hot Tuna swim team.

The Hot Tunas are a team made up of boys and girls from ages 6 to 16 years old. Swim team coach Joe, Mrs. Axelson and the staff have a great knack for bringing out the best in all of the swimmers.

Similar to soccer, baseball, football or lacrosse, swimming is another great means to foster developing bodies and minds beyond the narrow milieu to face one of the biggest questions all children will face of society, culture and conflict, and that is: "Where will I fit in?"

Since most colleges and universities have their own swim teams, it is worth it to suffer the pains it takes as parents to tear a son or daughter away from that TV show and perhaps strive for a scholarship. It is well-worth it because swimming is certainly one program given to body, mind and spirit and all parents, along with their children, deserve to consider the program held at the Michael J. Tully Jr. Park, Physical Activities Center (PAC) Pool, off Denton Avenue, on Evergreen Avenue, New Hyde Park.

For further information about the Hot Tuna Swim Team, please call PAC at 327-3140.
