Notre Dame School Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Lighting the Way to a New Century" is the theme of Catholic Schools Week this year and Notre Dame School will join in the celebration from Jan. 30 to Feb. 4 with a series of events.
The events will start with:
Jan. 30-9 a.m. Family Mass, Notre Dame Auditorium.
The Mass will be followed by an Open House from 10 a.m. to noon and all are invited to visit and tour the school and meet with parents, teachers and students.
Faith is the foundation of Notre Dame School and the theme this year underscores the strong Catholic identify and its importance in ensuring a brighter future for students, church and country. Monsignor Thomas McDade, the secretary for education of the United States Catholic Conference (USCC) said: "The faith-driven environment of our schools is the key to our success and the primary reason parents choose Catholic schools for their children."
Throughout Catholic Schools Week Notre Dame will conduct a variety of special events and activities in observance of Catholic Schools Week including:
Jan. 31-Open House-9:10 to 10:30 a.m. Visitors welcome to visit classes.
Feb. 1-BEAR DayBe Excited About Reading!
Feb. 3-Faculty Appreciation Day
Feb. 4-Student Recognition Day-Close of Catholic Schools Week-Liturgy will be held at 1:15 p.m. in the auditorium.
Grade Kindergarten (full day) to Grade 1 - 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, and Wednesday, Feb. 16
Early Childhood Nursery(3 year-olds) and pre-K (4-year-olds) - 9 to 11 a.m. - Feb. 29 and March 1.
To register all students must have reached their required age level by Dec. 1. Acceptance for September classes is limited. Priority is given to current school families and parishioners. For further information please call (516) 354-5618.

Holy Spirit School Celebrates Catholic School Week in February
Holy Spirit School of New Hyde Park is a school in the Catholic faith community dedicated to providing children with an excellent education in a uniquely diverse environment.
Holy Spirit School will celebrate Catholic Schools Week from Feb. 7 through Feb. 11 and will hold an open house on Feb. 6 from 12:30 to 2:20 p.m.
At the time of the open house visitors will have a chance to visit the classroom. During the week of Feb. 6 the shool will hold a Math Fair Exhibit and Fine Arts Festival. Call 354-5566 for a complete schedule of events.

Holy Spirit School offers a full-day kindergarten with a continued option for a half-day.
Holy Spirit also features: Dedicated teachers, small class sizes, New York State curriculum and standards, computers, religion, library, Spanish, physical education. It also has a student council and a band.

Saint Aidan School Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence
Principal Eileen Oliver has announced that Jan. 30 marks the beginning of Catholic Schools Week.
Everyone is welcome to visit St. Aidan School buildings after the 9 a.m. Mass until 12:30 p.m. A chance to come and be proud of the achievements of the children and teachers as St. Aidan's celebrate 50 years of Excellence in Education.
It is not necessary to be a child to tour the school. The administration is more than happy to welcome back all alumni as the school celebrates its 50th Anniversary-a chance to come back to the school and revisit a part of history.
The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year is Lighting the Way to a New Century. Many special events and programs have been planned during the week to celebrate Catholic education and to celebrate such an important milestone in the school's history.
Registration of new applicants wishing to attend St. Adian School in September of 2000 will take place as follows:

Grades 1-3 West Building and Grade 4-8 East Building
Grades 1, 2, 3 and 6 for waiting list only: 9 to 10 a.m.-Parishioners; 10:15-11:25 a.m.-Non-parishioners.
February 8
Kindergarten-West Building - 9 to 10 a.m. Parishioners; 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Non-parishioners.
Limited space available. Preference is given to those in the present pre-K program and to those who have siblings already enrolled in St. Aidan School.
February 11
Pre-Kindergarten-West Building - 9 to 10 a.m. Parishioners; 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Non-parishioners

There will be a non-refundable fee of $100 per family for all registrants.
The age cut-off date for all grades is Dec. 1.
The registration is an application process only. Applications will be reviewed thoroughly and applicants will be notified as to the status of child and his/her acceptance into St. Aidan School.
