In reply to Lori Castori's letter it amazes me that she praises Suzanne Wenz, the one board member that votes down every budget. I think Mrs. Wenz's priorities lie more with tax increases than children.

Manor Oaks has housed the library, the business offices, the primary grade, the buses and because of this library issue the children of Manor Oaks have not had a playground. Now we are asked to give up the fields. Perhaps it is time for one of the other schools to do their share.

If Ms. Castoria wants a library on school property, how about Hillside Grade? Although based on the reaction of a few residents screaming about fences, I doubt they would go for it. For some reason it is always Manor Oaks that is sharing their facilities. But this cannot continue.

Recently Manor Oaks had to add a section to the third grade because of increased numbers of children. This cost us the music room. There are four other grades that are at the maximum numbers or very close to it. Where are we going to put all these children? The business office and library take up the space of six classroom and a resource room.

I agree this town needs a new library. Every time one of my children has to do a report I have to go to a library in another town. However, the fields are needed for the children who play soccer, baseball and other activities.

If the district needs to expand Manor Oaks and agrees to the library, what's left for the children? The Manor Oaks property will look like a school in Manhattan congested to say the least.

Further, has anyone thought about the safety issues of having a public facility on school property?

I agree with the majority of the New Hyde Park/Garden City Park School Board that has put the needs of future generations of school children first. It is time for the library board to accept the school boards' decision and to move on. Jerylan Zacarese
