Lady Tigers 2 - Bayside Hurricanes 0

The Lady Tigers faced a much stronger team from Bayside in their last league game but managed two goals in the second half from Ali T. and Domenique C. to finish second in their division with a 7-1-1 record.

Lady Tigers 1 - Massapequa Rascals 0

The Lady Tigers beat the Suffolk division champs on their home field to advance to the next round of the State Cup to be continued in the spring. Nicole C. provided the winning goal while Francine L. had the Kodak moment with a dramatic defensive clearing shot at the goal line that preserved the lead.

The Lady Tigers had a fall season combined record of 18-3-1 while scoring 60 goals only allowing 18 against. Goalkeeper Lyndsey DeSarbo recorded nine shutouts and finished with a GAA (goals against average) of 0.81 with 71 saves for the season (244 as a Lady Tiger). Ali Timpano's consistency at midfield was crucial to the teams success as she contributed seven goals and three assists in addition to her new role as sweeper when time comes to protect the lead and get the win. Debra Prevete split her duties between forward and midfield where she has become an exceptional standout player, especially on the larger fields. Set-up girl Jaime Bourazeris led the team in assists (12) as she continued to perform as one of the most aggressive midfielders in Nassau. Domanie Kokkoris moved to left forward for most of the season where she tallied 11 points to her credit (three goals and four assists). Center forward Nicole Cavallaro demonstrated why she may be one of the best scorers in LI girls under 11 soccer as she led the team with 26 goals and is no just seven shy of 100 as a Lady Tiger. Cate Loskofsky relocated to left forward for the fall and netted three goals for some important scores in tournament and league games. Rookie Caitlin Gracia has added some power and toughness to the left defensive side this year with her unique style and finesse and is becoming an important part of the team's strong defense. Another newcomer to the team, Domenique Carusone, has stepped in to the right forward line with incredible speed and a rocket right boot to finish second in scoring with 12 goals and 28 points. The final four players make up the Big Blue Wall beginning with Francine Leung who's super performances in the final two State Cup games may have been the deciding factor for the team's advancement. The Lady Tigers are also privileged to have one of the very best and hottest center defenders on LI in Marion Delepena who also added four goals off corner kick plays designed for her strong boot. On the right side, Denise Prevete has been very impressive this season playing nearly flawless defense in every game and making all the right plays at the right time. Raquel Cantu has shown that she can play forward, midfield and defense she can do it all, and do it well, scoring, assisting and protecting and is a major asset when the coaches want to change strategy. Congratulations to coaches Vinnie Timpano and Bernadette Bourazeris who have once again given the girls and the parents a fun and exciting season. Also, much thanks to everyone who helps support the Lady Tigers and the New Hyde Park Wildcats for giving these girls an opportunity to proudly represent the community.

Jungle Cats 1 - P-OB Sharks 0

Jungle Cats close season with second straight shutout!

Frontline Captain Kristina Masci scored the game's only goal to totally frustrate the visiting team and cap off Fall '99. We had beaten this team with the same score on Columbus Day to nail down third place at the Brentwood Tournament, but lost a close one by one goal in our next meeting on 10/24.

Today's repeat of Columbus Day included dominating the ball in front of the Shark's net most of the game, as breakaway shots on goal came from Joanne Montoni (1), Shannon Lovisi (2), and Grace Emanuele (4). This kept the pressure to defend on the visitors, and they couldn't think of setting up anything dangerous, as NHP forced them into shots that landed solidly in our keepers' Daniela Sacino's (4 stops), and Marissa Azzato's (5 stops) hands. There were steals by Shannon, Palavee Panchal, and Ann Marie Puma, and great defensive clears, passes and drives up by Nicole DeSimone, Jessica Kosoirorek, Nicole Palmer, Nicole Halpern, Andrea Neto and Rhonda Albaneze through all 70 minutes. The winning goal came midway through the second half. It started with Andrea's and Ann Marie's air-mail passes up the middle to Nicole D. on rt. wing, who crossed to center forward Grace - both faking a charge into the POB 6m box, and sending it over to left wing, Kristina, who was wide out. She aimed a high backspin shot against the wind and it dropped in just clearing the crossbar, and well away from the goalie's hands. We defended hard the rest of the game but mixed in some of those goal shots, keeping the Sharks off balance to the last whistle. The Sharks had given us the most bruises and injuries this season, but we stepped up the physical intensity and made them pay today thanks to Joanne and Shannon and Jessica who took some kicks and elbows but kept up the clean body contact. This motivated the rest of the Jungle Cats to do the same. We missed Sarah, Christine and Kim today, but closed the season with this win for them, too.

Thanks girls and parents for a great first season, and to assistant coaches Joanne, Jen and especially Colleen Lovisi who completes her first season as coach/defensive coordinator. Thanks also to Tony Puma - our flagman who never gets tired. See you for Pizza on 12/6. Happy Holidays.

The Stray Cats have had many challenges in the team history and have always risen to the occasion. Undefeated seasons, division championships, Waldbaum's winners and even State Cup semi-finalists. This season the team faced another challenge and that was to play well enough to remain in division one. The Stray Cats proved they are equal to any challenge on their way to compiling a four win two tie and three-loss record and what should be their right to compete in division one. All the results of division games are not yet in but with a total of 14 points in the division a third place finish is within our sights. The team more than held their own against stiff competition and always gave themselves the opportunity to win right to the final whistle. Thanks to Megan Stevens, Nicole Southern, Alyson Rose, Lindsay Rela, Viki Nikic, Keri Lippolis, Jessica Lippolis, Mary Hess, Sarah Hall, Michele Galante, Alison Fliegel, Kristina DiCostanzo, Lauren DeSimone, Beth DeMarco, Ashley Campson and Jessica Busardo for making this season one to remember.
