New Hyde Park Stationary vs Expos
The New Hyde Park Stationary Cubs won a tough game with the Expos by the score of 4-0. The hitting stars were Max Devane, Frank Sarro, Jason and Matthew Westfal. Chris Pisciotta completed a triple play by catching a fly ball, stepping on first, and then firing to Billy Campbell at second. The Cubs executed all aspects of the game and gave a great effort. Good job Cubs.
New Hyde Park Stationary vs. Giants
The New Hyde Park Stationary Cubs team played a great game vs. Giants; the game ending in an 11-11 tie. Brett Speilberg made a great play from centerfield by snaring a hard hit ground ball and stepping on second. Jason Westfal had a great game behind the plate. Hitting stars included Matt DeLuca, Billy Campbell, Dan Graham, Max Devane, Matt Geus and Tommy Graziano. The Cubs hit the ball hard all day. It was a well-played game by both teams.
Dodgers 12 - Expos 10
Down by seven runs, the F & F Roofing Dodgers staged a 12 run comeback in a 12-10 victory over the Expos. Led by Sammy Wilbur and John Weitzel's offensive power, the hitting and fantastic fielding continued with Robbie Ferlazzo, Robert Butler, Richard Caruso, John Ganz, Gabriel Gonzales, Dominic Regalbuto and Eddie Kalinowski.
George's Deli vs. H. Edward A's
Another exciting game between the George's Deli Expos and the H. Edward A's. The Expos just squeezed past the tough A's. This one had everything: great fielding and great hitting by both teams. Every Expo contributed in the win. Peter Pecora had two hits and knocked in a run. Neil Bisciello was hot with three hits and an RBI. Michael Pucci carried a big bat with five RBIs and also crushed a long Grand Slam home run to deep right center. Anthony Zamitt went three for three with two big ribbies. Anthony was also stellar in the field, making two great plays. Thomas Cunningham came through with two hits and an RBI. Alex Bruschi helped by knocking in a run. David Rodgers pitched in with two hits. Adrian Silva smacked a long triple and knocked in a run. Paul Conte helped out with an RBI single. Bobby Montoni had a big game going three for three. Curt Ryersen chipped in with a timely hit. Michael Marsigliano knocked in a run and also was awesome at first base. Keep up the good work, Expos!

Dr. Barbaro's Pirates 7
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Dr. Barbaro's Pirates suffered their first loss of the season in a tough, well-played ball game. Dr. Barbaro's Pirates, trailing by 5-0 and 7-4, fought back to tie the game at seven but in an inning filled with bad breaks and bad hops, were unable to overcome the final lead obtained by CDM Tire Rockies.
Dr. Barbaro's Pirates were led by the power hitting of Nicholas Lipinski and the timely hitting of Chris Kassoff, Robert Pergament and Cory Williams. Dr. Barbaro's Pirates also received good pitching performances from Chris Kassoff, Robert Pergament and Michael Santalesa. Solid defensive plays, base running and hustle were exhibited by Frank Bayerbach, Chris Pucci, John Coster, John Karahalis and Jimmy Clark.
The defensive play of the game was a result of a long relay throw from John Coster to Michael Santalesa who gunned down the Rockie tying the score at home with Nicholas Lipinski applying the tag at home plate. The Pirates showed gritty effort and held their heads high after a tough loss.
The CDM Tire Rockies played a solid game getting contributions from everyone. John Morana pitched three shutout innings with Matt Psallidas finishing up with a strong performance on the mound. Tommy Brennan had three hits including a home run. Robert Graziano and Matt Morana each scored three times with Andrew Arenth and Sean McGonigle each scoring twice. Anthony Prisco had a big double with the bases loaded. John Ferlazzo and Frank Miranda each had solid games reaching base twice a piece. Steve Cialone sealed the victory with some sparkling defense and added three hits.

Nuzzi Fuel 7
A nicely played game between the Cellini Lodge Orioles and the Nuzzi Fuel Mariners with the Orioles holding on to an 8-7 victory. Matt Simms pitching for the Orioles pitched three no hit innings, and added a two run homer at the plate along with Michael Shacor who also hit a homer. Smart fielding by the Orioles outfielders, Mike Rocco, Nick Rocco, Joey Venezia and Andrew Montoni kept any balls hit to the outfield in front of them keeping Mariner base runners from advancing. Fine relief pitching by Tony Peveraro who came in throwing strikes late in the fifth inning capped off a great pitcher batter duel against hard hitting Chris Murphy of the Mariners. Fine hitting and fielding by Gary, Jonathan, Desi helped preserve this win for Cellini Lodge Orioles.
Lazio Pizza 7 - Dr. Barbaro 6
The Lazio Pizza Tigers scored two runs in the last inning for a come from behind win against Dr. Barbaro Pirates 7-6, in boys minors baseball action on April 27. Jonathan Nizzo made his first hit of the season a timely one with a clutch single to score Timmy Hanna and tie the game at 6 in the sixth inning. Romulo Fajardo knocked in Eric Wendt with a fielder's choice for the eventual winning run. Hanna and Wendt had opened the inning with singles to set up the winning rally. Chris Dicerbo had a triple and pitched the last two innings to get the win. Chris Lodise and DJ Gerowski each had a single and pitched two innings. Stephen Kostel had a single and a triple, and Mike Maham added a single to help spark the Lazio Pizza comeback. Paul Cunningham did a terrific job in his season debut at catcher. This was a spirited win for the Lazio Pizza Tigers as the team showed their appreciation for the effort by Jonathan Nizzo with a standing ovation for Jonathan after he hit the game-tying single!

In a game dominated by both teams' pitchers Nuzzi Fuel Mariners edged Virgilo Chiropractic Indians. Matt Loosen had a terrific game pitching (12k's) and hitting (2H). The Mariners bunched there hits and walks together in the fourth inning when they scored four times. Nicky Cusumano, Matt L., Jamie Brolly (2IP), Robert Maer, Paul Roantree and Kris Kapela (2 RBIs) all contributed to the runs. Chris Murphy had a good game behind the plate and Ethan Loosen (1RS), Danny Sasso, Pedro Suarez, Matt Nathan and John Hunt (who played in his first little league game) all played well.

The Virgilio Chiropractic Indians came alive in the fourth inning of a tough 1-1 game. Chris Ganz whacked a two run home run, Mike Colavito tripled, and the Indians had six runs. Excellent infield defense by Ed Daly and Andrew Richardson. Good hitting by Mark Ackert and Eric Gerwatowski. The first win of the season for the Indians.

A tough season opener for the Cardinals. Well fought in the rain. Solid pitching by Robby Kassoff, Mike McHale and Sal Heinrich. Great fielding by Nick Zacarese, Frank D'Introno, Cody Lange and Nick Obidienzo. Chris Dijanic had his first little league hit with a triple! The other hot bats were Jamie Lebowitz, John Amico and Mike McHale.

The Cardinals came out swinging in the first inning scored three of the 11 runs. A lead-off double by Sal Heinrich started the pace of the game. The pitching by Robby Kassoff and Mike McHale kept the opponents to five runs. Great fielding plays by Cody Lange, Nicky Obidienzo, Frank D'Introno and John Tedesco. On base every up was Nick Zacarese. A special thanks to our "resident" guest player from the minors Jamie Liebowitz with five RBIs. Great team effort by all the boys.

The Pace Pharmacy Pals had an outstanding day on the diamond, victorious over New Hyde Park by a score of 13-2. Every single girl on the team hit the ball today. We had our first extra base hit of the season by Jaclyn Liebowitz who hit a bullet up the middle for a double. Meaghan Fitzpatrick, Amelia Dicicco, Katie Hundertmark, and Julianne Saraceno were crushing the ball all day. We had great base running and outstanding plays in the field from Kathleen Nicolello, Christina Stone, Jacqueline O'Connell, Jennifer Fazzolari, Christina Stone and Julie Hundertmark. Valerie Fiore did a fine job catching behind the plate. These girls looked like they have been playing together for years. Keep up the good work girls!
Greenpoint Savings vs. New Hyde Park
The Greenpoint Savings team played a tough game against New Hyde Park but lost by a score of 6-0. Carla Campagna, Roseann Malizia and Julia Diolallevi were the hitting stars. Kim Vrabel and Victoria Pisciotta pitched a great game. The Greenpoint team need a break "here or there" and would have been right back in the game. Tough loss but a very well-played game.
Lazio Deli vs. Glen Oaks 1
Well, our girls on Merillon 1 had some great plays the other night. Tricia Philbin caught a line drive down the third base line. What an amazing day. The crowd went crazy. We also had great plays by pitcher Katie Flynn to third base player Kristy Carydes. We got some base hits by our own Samantha Sanginiti, Erin Campbell, and Colleen Sanders. Lazio Deli can be proud of their team, and so am I. You all played with a lot of soul. Keep up the good work.

State Bank of LI opened their season with a 14-3 win over Port Washington. Julianne Schaefer and Christine Deluca's pitching combined to give up just three runs. Marlene Junker, Sami O'Keefe and Megan Thewes combined for eight hits and six runs scored.
Mineola 13 - State Bank of LI 7
Mineola defeated State Bank of LI in a very exciting game by the score of 13-7. Kerri Schaefer, Christine Deluca, and Jessica Cannaughton combined for eight hits, and Maureen Flynn hit a three run home run. Sami O'Keefe and Jennifer Saro played solid defense in the outfield.
Kiwanis Club vs. New Hyde Park
The Dynamites suffered another tough loss at the hands of a fine New Hyde Park squad. Chrissy Colon started us off on the right foot with a long home run to dead centerfield. Meghan Morrisey and Tara Marsigliano split the pitching duty. Meghan also helped the cause with two hits and a walk. Erin Shea made a nice play at second base to save a run. Ann Marie Rudd and Caitlin Miller added some timely hitting. Kelly Gues and Maryann Karahalis split the catching duty. Maryann made the defensive play of the game in right field. The girls gave a fine effort in a losing cause. Better luck next game!

Mineola #2 18
The Meldon Silverman (Blue Furby's) out slugged Mineola Team #2 by a score of 22-18 at this Friday night hitting festival. After being down 6-0 Kathryn Leotta and Suzie Joskowski hit long home runs to bring the game back to reach. Jennifer Fabian had a long drive to centerfield hauled in by Mineola but also contributed three other running scoring hits.
Kristi Gottlieb made a sensational catch in left field which stopped a Mineola late rally and Jenna Leitman added some heads up play at both second base and centerfield.
Diana Cottileta pitched for the first time in her career and was very poised and confident. Diana Amoroso got the job done again despite a small injury by pitching brilliantly for three innings. She has continued to be a stopper during the middle innings. Jennifer Fabian pitched the last inning and closed the door on Mineola hitters.
Monica Soluri and Maria Dente had key hits and both played a great first base and Ali Art did a terrific job by catching a great game and adding two clutch hits during our rallies. Girls you played great!
