Pantherettes 5 - Syosset 4
The Pantherettes opened their 1999 season against a very physical and aggressive team. Our girls truely showed their stamina playing with only 12 girls against a squad of 18.
Our forward line was impressive, moving the ball in and around Syosset's defense, keeping their goalie jumping and diving, making tremendous saves throughout the game. Our scoring came from Jackie - 2, TerriAnn - 1, Concita - 1 and Prachee - 1, Jess and Kara were relentless in their attacks on goal. Outstanding two-way playing by Kristen, cutting down Syosset's drives and pushing the ball upfield. Excellent playing by Kristin and Christine whose fast and aggressive style shut down many of Syosset's plays.
Straycats 1 - Vipters 2
A great exhibition of soccer to start the season. Danny Quezada scored on a cross pass from Joe Napolitano and later, Joe scored on a power shot to the goal. Chris Vrabel, Stephen Sweeney, Nick Zacharese and Mike Rafferty were quick to the ball at midfield. Chris Mui and Pasquale shared duties in goal. Chris Sausto and Kyriakos Sea stood tough on defense.
A great start to the young season. Yosuke Nagamori scored the Straycats lone goal with offensive assistance from Ross, Matt S., Julio, Paul and Jonathan. Great goaltending by Matt F. kept the game very close. He wa aided on defense by teammates Chris, Mario and Leonardo.
