The New Hyde Park Village Board is extremely disappointed in New York State's declination to fund a feasibility study to consolidate the New Hyde Park/Garden City Park Public District Library and the Library of the Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park.

The village board is nonetheless committed to finding funds for this important collaboration which will in turn create a more functional library network with fewer tax dollars. The village board is still committed to a partnership wherein the Village will offer a land use for the Library.

Mayor Tackenberg and Trustee Florence Lisanti will appeal to state legislators for their assistance in developing this plan. In the words of Mr. John Sheffer, Director of Statewide Shares Services, "The partnership between the District Library and the Village offers valuable opportunities for collaboration."
