After the close of the last New Hyde Park Village meeting New Hyde Park Mayor Warren Tackenberg, speaking on behalf of the members of the Independent Homeowners and Taxpayers Party (IHAT), announced that the upcoming March 16 election will be uncontested.

Trustees William Fischl and Robert Seldomridge will not seek re-election which ensures that both Village Party candidates Robert LoFaro and Richard Coppola will be elected along with Village Justice David Sullivan.

Tackenberg said that the decision was made in an effort to protect the Village of New Hyde Park. He then invited both candidate LoFaro and Coppola to join him and trustees Florence Lisanti and Frank Komornik as they start deliberating on the budget for next year.

However, several members of the newly formed Village Party in the audience were not happy with the decision stating that they felt it was not "good government."
