"His progress is slow, but steady, and we won't know if he's out of the woods until Sunday, so keep praying, " was the comment from Daniel O'Sullivan's aunt Lorraine Alberton, of New Hyde Park when we talked to her just before press time. O'Sullivan, who is 25 years old native and a native of New Hyde Park, was run down by a drunk driver when stopping to help a stranded motorist on the Grand Central Parkway last weekend and has been in intensive care at New York Hospital with a severe head injury ever since. If they can keep the brain pressure down, as it has been since they operated, then his prognosis is good.

O'Sullivan attended Hillside Grade School grammar school and was an active member of the Wildcats Soccer team. He is a New Hyde Park Memorial Class of 1991 graduate where he was a member of the Honor Society in both his junior and senior year. He was also class secretary, member of the chorus, on the football team, the soccer team and the lacrosse team.

A son of Donald and Jeanette O'Sullivan, Daniel joined the New York City Police force last April. His brother Mark who lives in Rockville Centre and sister, Nadine Peters, who lives in Garden City along with his mom and dad have been at his bedside since the accident.

Mrs. Alberton said, "Stopping to help someone is just so typical of what Daniel does, and not because he is a police officer. He is always helping others, he is just such a great guy!"
