Kevin Gormley, 55, died suddenly on Tuesday morning, July 21, at his home in the Village of New Hyde Park.

Before his retirement, five years ago, Gormley had for 30 years been associated with New York Telephone Company working his way up from lineman to the position of district manager of NYNEX.

Since his retirement he has become very interested in New Hyde Park politics and attended most meetings of both the village and the school board, often expressing his opinions at both meetings. Further, he was an avid "letter-to-the editor" writer sending them for publication in the Illustrated News and other weekly papers as well as daily papers.

He and his wife, Josephine, (nee Gaitings) were married 33 years ago in Queens and 28 years ago moved to the Village of New Hyde Park where they raised their four children. All four graduated from Holy Spirit Parochial School and then two graduated from high school at St. Mary's in Manhasset and Chaminade in Mineola and two graduated from New Hyde Memorial High School, in New Hyde Park.

Besides his devoted wife, Gormley is survived by his two sons Daniel, of Massapequa; Brian of New Hyde Park and his two daughters Teresa Breslin, of Mineola and Denise Gormley, of Woodbridge, New Jersey and four grandchildren Jessica, Tommy and James Breslin and Daniel Gormley.

A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Spirit Church on Friday morning. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury. Arrangements were under the direction of the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park.
