As a fairly new homeowner in New Hyde Park, with young children soon to be starting school, I felt it necessary to attend the recent "meet the candidates" meeting at the New Hyde Park Road school on April 27. On this night, five candidates outlined their qualifications for the position of school board member. Tricia Sheridan is the candidate that I most remember and will support for reasons so simply presented in her closing remarks.
Ms. Sheridan's hand seems to be most directed on the pulse of the school board system. Her involvement to date attests to her devotion to seek nothing but the best for students (of whom her three children are notably included) utilizing our public schools. Ms. Sheridan captured my attention when she spoke of being at the New Hyde Park Road School each and every day for her children and of her excellent attendance at school district functions.
Here is a lady who sincerely spends her days "talking the talk" and then literally "walking the walk" for the children. Tricia Sheridan is to me perfectly suited to represent our interests in quality education and sound fiscal policy. She has the credentials, possesses the initiative and most importantly, her heart is in the right place. Let's show her our support on school board election day May 19.
