Henry J. Campbell Jr., 76, of New Hyde Park, died on Jan. 24, 1998. He was a consulting engineer who provided engineering design services for architects, building owners, devlopers, and municipalities.
Some of Mr. Campbell's projects were the air-conditioning systems at Jones Beach's Boardwalk Restaurant, the electrical systems at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge and the center power plant that serves Nassau Community College and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. He also designed the electrical and mechanical systems for the pool at West Point Military Academy.
Mr. Campbell was the Islip town consulting engineer during the 1960s and president and partner of Campbell and Friedland during the 1970s. He was listed in Who's Who in Engineering and was a member of the honorary engineering fraternity Tau Beta Pi and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Mr. Campbell was involved in many charity organizations including the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Save the Children Foundation and was founder of the LI Heart Council. He received a Medal for Distinguished Public Service from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers.
He is survived by his wife Lillian E. (Betty); his children Dr. Barbara Ann Yonai and Nancy Elizabeth Chiesa; and his sons-in-law Dr. James A. Yonai and John J. Cheisa. Arrangements were made by the New Hyde Park Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
