At the last meeting of the North Hempstead Town Board the mangers of the Harbor Links Golf Course, Senior Tour Players Development, Inc, the first golf course in the town, announced the proposed fees for the 18-hole course, the executive 9-hole course and for the driving range. Further, the board set the rules for playing on the various courses.
There was discussion by some of the board members regarding the days made available for "golf outings." Traditionally, Mondays most golf courses are closed and that is the day set aside for outings, but the representative from Senior Tours said that along with Mondays smaller outings were also planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Councilman Angelo Ferrara thought that too many days were being set aside and Councilman James O'Connor felt there weren't enough. Ferrara's theory was if there were outings with fewer people attending then residents could still avail themselves of the course. In anycase, at the end of the discussion the board voted unanimously to set the following golf fees:

Mandatory carts on weekends; Weekends are considered Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and all legal holidays; Junior rate includes those up to and including the age of 16 and on a space available basis-24-hours in advance; Twilight rate in effect four hours prior to sunset; Seniors are to be 62 years and older; Cart fees are $15 per person. Soft spikes, only; Tee time membership car for residents $35 for 1998 from July to December and $50 for full year in 1999. There will be a 2-year special rate from 1998 to 1999 for $75; Tee time membership card for nonresidents will be $70 for 1998 from July to December and $100 for full year in 1999. There will be a 2-year special offered for 1998-1999 of $150.
