A special presentation made by Peter Collins, president of Long Island Junior Soccer League in memory of Bob Fiston was given to his wife Pat, and daughters Amy and Beth. The plaque read: In Memory of Bob Fiston To Acknowledge with gratitude Bob's many years of dedication and commitment to the children of New Hyde Park Soccer Club the LIJSL and the game of Soccer we will never forget you! Presented by Long Island Junior Soccer League March 6, 1998.
Beth, a cadet from West Point, said a few words about her father and his volunteer days. He loved the soccer community. She thanked LIJSL and the Wildcats for this award on behalf of her family. She commented about his dedication to the New Hyde Park Wildcats' Soccer Club, the LIJSL, Sacred Heart, and his love for the players. My father would always be there for them. He felt it was a privilege to help his community. His hard work and devotion will continue with the Bob Fiston Memorial Fund (NHP Wildcats Soccer Club), Army's Women Soccer, Bob Fiston Memorial Outstanding Soccer Player Award presented annually to a player who epitomizes what the game of soccer is all about. Beth concluded that this award shows that his work was truly appreciated, which means a lot to her family.
