The New Hyde Park Civilian Patrol celebrated its 15th Anniversary last week at a reception held last week at Clinton G. Martin Park Recreational Center. The group was formed by Aurora Temple, who is still at the helm, and since that time it has grown in leaps and bounds. In fact, they now have their own headquarters located atop Arland Printing Company, 1300 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. The New Hyde Park Civilian Patrol members work in conjunction with the Third Precinct, as another pair of eyes. They are constantly patrolling the entire New Hyde Park area for anything or anybody that is out of the ordinary and if they do discover anything amiss they report it immediately to the officers at the Third Precinct. Many public officials were on hand to help with the celebration including New York State Senator Michael Balboni, Assemblywoman Maureen O'Connell, North Hempstead Town Supervisor May Newburger, Legislator Richard Nicolello, New Hyde Park Village Trustees Bill Fischl and Robert Seldomridge, who all praised the efforts of the members for ensuring that New Hyde Park remains a safe and happy place to live.
