Nicolello/Ferrara to Help Seniors With STAR

On Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the New Hyde Park Village Hall, corner of Jericho Turnpike and New Hyde Park Road, under the sponsorship of both Legislator Richard Nicolello and North Hempstead Town Councilman-elect Angelo Ferrara, Nicolello's assistant Jeanine Cinelli will be available to answer any questions seniors might have regarding how to fill out his/her application for the STAR (School Tax Reduction) Program that must be filed with the Nassau County Department of Assessment by Dec. 31.

According to Councilman-elect Ferrara, "It is important that eligible seniors be given every opportunity to obtain the tax relief provided by STAR. Rather than having seniors travel to Mineola or Manhasset, during the busy holidays to have their questions answered, we are bringing this service to the community."

Legislator Nicolello's office has received numerous calls from the 9th Legislative District constituents with specific questions on STAR and the application process. Moreover, the Assessment Department has been inundated with calls from residents since the state legislature adopted the governor's STAR program earlier this year.

Anyone seeking further information may call Legislator Nicolello's office at 571-6209.
