Concettella Marie Ingegno Celebrates 100th Birthday

On Dec. 6 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park, family and friends of Concettella Marie Ingegno will celebrate her 100th birthday.

Concettella Ingegno was born on Dec. 8, 1897 in a small mountain town in Italy called Deliceto, which is located about 25 miles south of Foggia. There she met and married Thomas Ingegno during World War I. They had a son who tragically did not survive and is buried in Italy.

After the war she and her husband came to the United States to settle and had four more children; two boys and two girls and then her husband died. She never remarried, but provided for the family by sewing clothes at home for a local factory.

By helping her children with their school homework she was able to teach herself to read and write English. Her constant support and encouragement helped her children achieve full productive lives. Further, her deep religious beliefs have been an inspiration to all who have known her throughout the years. Her four children have blessed Concettella with seven grandchildren and those children have blessed her with 15 great-grandchildren.

She lives with her son Francis and his wife Renate in Manhasset Hills, where they have been residents since 1959.

Although her children are now spread out over five states they all will be together for this special event.
