On Sept. 27, soccer midfielder Alexis Escobar, of Hicksville, scored the game-winning goal with 7:07 remaining in double overtime as the Farmingdale State College Rams defeated NYU, 1-0. The Rams improved to 4-5 on the season. NYU fell to 6-2-1.
NYU outshot Farmingfale, 6-1, in the first half and held a 5-4 advantage in the second half. Neither team was able to score in either regulation or the first overtime period.
In double overtime, senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington) punted the ball three quarters of the field leading to a breakaway score by Escobar.
Escobar is a sophomore at Farmingdale State College, studying mechnanical engineering. He is a graduate of Monsignor McClancy High School.
