The Second Squad reported the details of an attempted murder that occurred in Hicksville on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1:30 a.m.
According to detectives, Joseph Ohlhausen, 33, armed with a kitchen knife, entered his mother and stepfather’s bedroom and repeatedly stabbed his stepfather while he was sleeping. Detectives said the male victim, 58, ran out of the home to a neighbor and called police.
Second Squad noted there was no known previous altercation between the victim and the defendant. The victim sustained severe lacerations to his neck and hands, was transported to a local hospital and admitted, said police. He is listed in serious, but stable condition and the defendant’s mother did not sustain any injuries, police noted.
The defendant is being charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree. He was transported to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He will be arraigned as soon as practical.
