Marion C. Di Fronzo, of Hicksville, died on April 28, 2009. Wife of the late Joseph Jr. Mother of Mary E. Ryan (Floyd) and Joseph III (Rose). Edna M. Jezewski, of Farmingdale, formerly of Hicksville, died on April 19, 2009. Wife of John. Mother of Edna McGlynn and her husband James. Grandmother of John (Anne) Kelly and Sue Bowden. Elizabeth W. Pearce, long-time Hicksville teacher, died Feb. 14, 2009 in Mechanicsburg, PA, surrounded by members of her loving family. She was born July 19, 1914 in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama, where her parents, Ida L. (Braun) and William Morse White were involved in communications and supply work in support of the construction of the Panama Canal.
A long-time resident of Hicksville, Mrs. Pearce taught 4th grade at East Street School for almost 30 years. She was a founding board member of the Hicksville Gregory Museum.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John H., who died May 8, 1995, and by her sister, Beula Hamm. Surviving are daughters, Patricia P. Smith of Los Angeles and Elaine Papiernik, wife of Richard, of Mechanicsburg, and son, J. Kendall, husband of Elizabeth, of Fairport, NY; three grandchildren, David E. Smith, Elizabeth E. Ebersole and Colin F. Pearce; and twin great-granddaughters, Rebecca Pauline and Sarah Elizabeth Williams.
She was a member of the Hicksville United Methodist Church for almost 70 years. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elizabeth's name to the Hicksville Gregory Museum., 1 Heitz Pl., Hicksville, NY 11801-3101.
