Live Nation, in association with Darcy Novick Productions, will present a night of comedy and music on Saturday, May 2 when four of Long Island's biggest and best-known comedy stars - Adam Ferrara, Richie Minervini, Kevin Meaney and Joe Starr - return to Long Island to perform on their "home turf" for the 7th Annual Long Island Comedy Fest at the Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury.
Kicking off this special night of energized entertainment will be Dr. K's Motown Revue, one of the region's premier Motown bands. Dr. K., a.k.a. Hicksville native Paul Korman, a veteran bassist and member of Hicksville High School's Class of 1969.
In celebrating 50 years of America's Motown sound, Korman's 11-piece band of vocalists and musicians have sold out several recent performances, including concerts at BBKings in Manhattan, the Boulton Center in Bay Shore, Five Towns College in Dix Hills and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
When the music ends, next up on the Capital One stage will be television personalities of South Huntington natives Adam Ferrara, who starred in the motion picture Mall Cop and the FX series Rescue Me, and Richie Minervini, seen in the television series King of Queens. Kevin Meaney, star of Broadway's Hairspray, along with Comedy Central's Joe Starr of Brentwood will also grace the stage.
According to spokesperson Doug Murphy, this is an all-star comedy cast of four native Long Islanders, "funny men who've made their marks and thrilled audiences with highly original acts on network television, in hit movies, on radio and major market talk shows and at first rate comedy clubs worldwide."
The 7th Annual Comedy Fest will end on a high note of special giving, with a donation to Comedy Cures made on behalf of the show's audience and all its performers.
