The Eighth Squad reported the details of an Aggravated Harassment/Bias crime and a Criminal Mischief/Bias crime, which occurred between 7 p.m. Friday, April 10 and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11 in Levittown and Hicksville respectively.
According to detectives, when volunteers opened the softball concession stand at Azalea Park, Levittown on April 11 at 7 a.m., they found graffiti written with pink spray paint, on the south side of the building. The graffiti included two backwards swastikas, the number "13" in block letters, the words "pink [racial slur]" and other bias statements. The cost of the damage was approximately $200.
At the same date and time, a resident in Hicksville went outside his home and observed graffiti written in yellow marker on both a car, which was parked in his driveway and a stove, which had been left out for garbage next to the driveway. The graffiti stated, "Go away [racial slur] and [racial slur] go home." The cost of the damage was approximately $100.
It is unclear if these incidents are related. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone with information concerning these cases to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
