Hicksville athlete Rafael Medalla was presented with the Greater Long Island Running Club's (GLIRC) 2008 Championship Award in the 35-39 Age Group. The award was presented to Medalla at the GLIRC's Feb. 17 general meeting, and was based on his performance in a wide spectrum of running events throughout 2008.

"Rafael is an outstanding athlete who lets his running accomplishments do his talking for him," observed Running Club Mike Polansky as he presented the award. "It is a privilege and a pleasure for us to present this award to him."
