Opinion

After 36 years, we bid farewell to the Hicksville community, and reflect upon the past years.

We would be remiss if we didn't comment and praise the community service of former Hicksville Fire Commissioner Charley Hearon.

For the past five years, Charley worked tirelessly to build better relations between the Hicksville residents and the fire district. He encouraged transparency and improved communications among all parties. Charley always made the needs of the department and the community a priority.

Thank you, Charley, for the many sacrifices you willingly made during your five years of public service. We know there were many challenges and difficulties, but you were steadfast and committed, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

RoseMarie and Herb Ehrich
