Opinion

Last year there were criticisms about the fact that there were no holiday decorations along Broadway. This year, Hicksville's own New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker generously donated funds to the chamber of commerce in order to begin a series of lights to sparkle and shine in Hicksville. I thank them and would hope that all residents have taken note and will appreciate what they have done to make Hicksville more festive at this time of year.

Thanks also to the Hicksville-Jericho Rotary and Fire Department for the beautiful tree display in Kennedy Park. Every year the Rotary donates trees to any organization willing to decorate for the holidays. What a great tradition!

In case you're looking for Santa, take a peek in the John Bull locomotive at Kennedy Park. I think he's hiding there until Christmas Eve. Speaking of the train, doesn't it look beautiful at night all decorated with lights and wreaths?

We have a lot to be thankful for and it's about time we saw some letters of appreciation gracing these pages and not just complaints and insinuations.
