Some sad news first. A longtime member of our league, Ed Junginger, died of a heart attack last week. You sometimes hear people say, "He's a great guy, always smiling, good sense of humor, no enemies" - that's Ed. We'll miss you Ed. Save a place for us up there.

It was a nice sunny day today but there was a very cool breeze and it was a little uncomfortable unless you were smart enough to bring a jacket or sweater. There were 40 golfers today. We had more pars than golfers today. There were 53 pars and three birdies, one by Jim Greene on the 173 yard, par 3, 2nd hole, one by Mike Guerriero on the 150 yard, par 3, 3rd hole and one by Jim Murphy on the 182 yard, par 3, 9th hole. Of course the fact that the course was shortened because we used temporary tees had nothing to do with the good scores.

We have one tournament left. It will be a "scramble" tournament. After the last tournament on Oct. 16, we will all go to the VFW Hall on Rt. 107 (Broadway) for a luncheon and distribution of prizes.

Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 13 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 14 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man who is 55 years of age is eligible.

Because of the rapid growth of our club this year, we regret that we must limit our membership. The time involved to make up the foursomes and the waiting time for all the groups to finish is prohibitive. If you have already called to say that you wish to join the club, we will accept you, but after that we will have to put you on a waiting list. For more information call Lou Neumann at 681-2056.
