The Hicksville Storm Girls U17 Soccer Team played in the Major Waldbaum's Cup Championship June 14 in Stony Brook. The Waldbaum's Cup is a single elimination tournament in which over 93 clubs throughout Long Island and Queens compete throughout the year. It all comes down to two teams in each age group that meet in June at Stony Brook for the finals.

The Storm, the only team from the Hicksville American Soccer Club to make the Waldbaum's Cup finals this year, finished as champions, taking their game 3-1. The girls were also named the Long Island Junior Soccer League's top Division 1 team and were State Cup quarterfinalists.

The team is comprised of a great bunch of girls who have been playing highly competitive soccer for nine years, and much of that time as teammates. Thanks to the support and dedication of Coaches Rich Sommers and Jim Botto, the girls have had a great year.
