New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker (R, C, I, WF-Hicksville) announced last week that he has secured over $17 million above the Executive Budget proposal released this past January for school districts within the 15th Assembly District. On average, school districts will receive a 10.89 percent over what the Executive Budget proposal had recommended.
"Today is an historic day for Nassau County School Districts which will be receiving record funding as part of the fiscal year 2008-2009 budget," said Walker. "It is long past due that Long Island schools receive the proper amount of funding based upon the number of students that we educate in comparison to the rest of the state. I am proud to be able to announce that schools in my district will be receiving $17.8 million more in addition to the Executive Budget proposal's increase of $2.4 million"
As part of the fiscal year 2008-2009 budget, school districts within the 15th Assembly District will receive the following amounts:

"I hope these restorations and increases will once again pave the way for lower property taxes and better education for our students," noted Walker. "I will continue to fight for education funding because there is nothing more important than making sure children are given the opportunities and resources to pursue their dreams."
