Opinion

The Town of Oyster Bay, the family-friendly town, is always looking to make a family outing more interesting. If you go to Tobay Beach, the bay side, you now have to take a bus ride to get a hot dog thanks to the town officials closing the concession stand for beach-friendly food and allowing HRSingleton to open it up as an upscale restaurant.

To get the usual beach food you now have to pack up your belongings, take a bus ride, which uses gas and costs money, to the ocean side, walk to the concession stand there, get your food and then reverse the procedure to get back on the beach.

A simple solution is to take one corner of the building and use it as a concession stand. It would only take 10 or 15 feet to have a hot dog and hamburger grill, soda and snack food section and a few tables set aside for this use. It should not interfere with HRSingelton making money and it should satisfy everyone.

If this situation and solution interests you at all please contact your town officials so it may be resolved before the beach season starts.
