An early morning blaze broke out at a West Nicholai Street home on Jan. 30. In responding to the 2:53 a.m. alarm, Hicksville Fire Department personnel found heavy fire throughout the house. Hicksville received mutual aid from the Westbury and Syosset Fire Departments in the form of ladder trucks on the scene, as well as the Jericho Fire Department, which provided an engine on the scene. Additional assistance was provided by the Bethpage and Plainview Fire Departments, which stood by at Hicksville fire headquarters. No injuries were reported. Despite an aggressive attack, the home was destroyed. The Nassau County Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause.
