The Eighth Squad reports the Dec. 17 arrest of two Hicksville residents in connection with a grand larceny, which occurred on May 12, 2006. According to detectives, a 45-year-old Arizona man bid $1,130.50 on eBay for a 1959 Mickey Mantel baseball card. The bid was accepted and the victim sent a check to the defendant, Ari Orakciyan, 26, who allegedly cashed the check. The victim never received the baseball card. Police report that Orakciyan is also charged with a similar larceny that occurred in May 2005 where a 59-year-old Florida man sent him $1,280 for a baseball card he allegedly never received. Orakciyan was arrested in Hicksville and charged with two counts of grand larceny - 4th degree and defraud - 1st degree. Additionally, Hicksville resident Deidre Donovan, 20, was arrested in connection with the crime. She was placed under arrest at the 2nd Precinct on Dec. 19 at 11:50 a.m. and is being charged with grand larceny - 4th degree and criminal possession of stolen property - 4th degree. Both Orakciyan and Donovan were arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
